Meerut Court Sentences Ravita and Amar deep to Death for Husband’s Murder
A Meerut court has sentenced Ravita and her boyfriend Amardeep to death for the murder of Amit Kashyap. Investigators found that the death was caused by suffocation, not a snakebite, after a snake was allegedly placed on his bed.
Amit Kashyap, a resident of Akbarpur Sadat village under the Bahsuma police station area, was allegedly murdered by his wife Ravita with the help of her boyfriend, Amardeep. Amit worked in tile and stone installation, and Amardeep also worked alongside him. He frequently visited Amit’s house, during which he developed an extramarital relationship with Ravita.
Their relationship gradually deepened. However, Amit eventually discovered the affair between his wife and Amardeep and objected to it.
According to the information available, Amit’s opposition prompted Ravita and Amardeep to plot his murder. The two allegedly purchased a snake from a snake charmer by paying him Rs 1,000.
On the night of April 17, after Amit had fallen asleep, Ravita called Amardeep to the house. The two allegedly killed Amit and then placed the snake on his bed to make it appear that he had died from a snakebite. After the murder, Ravita sent Amardeep away and went to sleep in another room.
The following morning, family members found Amit dead, with snakebite marks on his body. They initially believed that he had died from a snakebite. However, when his body was sent for a post-mortem examination, the report established that the cause of death was suffocation rather than a snakebite.
The findings prompted the police to investigate the circumstances surrounding Amit’s death. Ravita had also opposed the decision to send the body for a post-mortem examination, raising suspicions among family members about her possible involvement in the killing.
Following the post-mortem findings, Ravita and Amardeep were arrested. The investigation uncovered the alleged murder conspiracy involving the couple and the use of a snake to make the death appear accidental.
The death sentence announced by the Meerut court marks the second major capital punishment verdict in the city within two days, following the sentences handed down to Muskan and Sahil in the separate blue drum murder case.
